Review on the Mainstay brand survival rations

As part of my intentions to try to kit out my get home bag I tried one of the survival rations which are available on Amazon.  The food in my get home bag takes up a significant (yet not excessive) percentage of the bag.  So when a friend of mine offered me a try of some  Mainstay Emergency Food Rations, I was more than happy to take a sample.

Produced by a company called Survival Industries, Inc. The packaging looks almost identical to many of the other survival rations currently available on the market, which leads me to believe that they are possibly created by the same company, with different packaging (yet this is just a theory).

The ingredients of the rations include:

Enriched Flour, Added Vitamins A, B-1, B-2, D, E, B-6, B-12, Niacin, Iron, Folic Acid, Magnesium, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Phosphorus, Vegetable Shortening, (Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oils), Granulated Sugar, Corn Starch, Corn Syrup, Natural Lemon Flavor, Artificial Butter Flavor, Artificial Vanilla Flavor, (Tartrazine, FD&C Yellow#5, FD&C Red #40), Artificial Color, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Gamma/Delta Tocopherols as a natural antioxidant.

The only issue I had with this product was that the individual servings were not seperate.  Once the pack is open, it has to be consumed.  While I doubt they would easily degrade, I think it would have been better to have seperate packets to allow them to all be kept sealed until required.

While I did like the food, I think I might try out another brand which has single serves.

For anyone interested, here is my video review.
