“We all need each other.” – Leo Buscaglia

The other day some of my children’s friends came over to play after school.  Their mother came to pick them up later and Kitty discovered that she used to be the gardener for some of the previous owners of our house.  This was a great chance for us to find out about the trees on the property.  We have many trees that look like they might be fruit trees, yet they have grown very large and I was worried that they may be ornamental.  Kitty discovered that every tree is actually a fruit producing tree.  We have:

  • Apricot,
  • Plum,
  • Cherry,
  • Apple, and
  • A Pear.

The news was that these trees are very good producers.  They apparently produce over 30 kilos of fruit each, per year.  I am very excited about this possibility.  She also told Kitty that stone fruit and nuts would grow well, particularly Peaches, Apricots, Almonds and Hazelnuts.

As I have run out of herbs, shrubs and the majority of the trees I want to plant, I traveled to a nursery that was having a sale to pick up some bargains.  It took me a while to sort through their various trees, yet I purchased a nice selection.  I tried to keep in mind the trees I already have, and that were recommended to me.  I bought.

  • Hazelnut,
  • 2 Apricot
  • Peach
  • 2 Cherry
  • 2 Plum
  • Gooseberry.

These should be planted this coming weekend, as long as the weather holds up.  I still need to get some additional shrubs to for with this (still trying to find some Comfrey), and the normal diverse bunches of herbs.
